If you rent a car for one day and drive it for 100 miles, the cost is $40.00. if you drive it 220 miles, the cost is $46.00. use the linear function to find out how much you will pay to rent the car for one day if you drive it 300 miles.
Answer from: armstrongstang420
The function f(x) = (6/120) x + 40
= 0.05x + 40 where x is the excess mileage over 100
If we drive it for 300 miles x will be 300-100 = 200
so cost will be 0.05*200 + 40
= 10+40 = $50 answer
= 0.05x + 40 where x is the excess mileage over 100
If we drive it for 300 miles x will be 300-100 = 200
so cost will be 0.05*200 + 40
= 10+40 = $50 answer
