Aaliyah is working two summer jobs, making $7 per hour walking dogs and making $10 per hour tutoring. In a given week, she can work no more than 17 total hours and must earn no less than $140. Also, she must work at least 2 hours walking dogs and at most 13 hours tutoring. If xx represents the number of hours walking dogs and yy represents the number of hours tutoring, write and solve a system of inequalities graphically and determine one possible solution.

let's solve your equation step-by-step.

24−3x=−27

step 1: simplify both sides of the equation.

24−3x=−27

24+−3x=−27

−3x+24=−27

step 2: subtract 24 from both sides.

−3x+24−24=−27−24

−3x=−51

step 3: divide both sides by -3.

−3x

−3

=

−51

x=17

answer:

x=17

let's cover over the formula of the vertex:

y = a(x – h)^2 + k

in this formula, (h,k) are the vertex, always remember that the positive or negative value of the vertex is based on the sign it has.

for example, if the vertex is -3,-6 then both the x and y value would have the positive sign attached to it and if it were a positive x and y value, then a negative sign would be attached to it.

with that being said, for our problem the x value is a positive one so we are looking for a number with a negative sign next to it, in this case the first and second choice.

however, for the first answer choice it isn't quite part of the formula so we know that the answer choice correctly displays the x value.

to confirm, we can see if the -1 fits correctly with the second answer choice, and as mentioned above a negative number will have a positive sign attached to it. so, for our problem we can see that -1 has been changed to +1, so we can confirm that the second answer choice is correct.

hence, our final answer is y=(x - 1)^2 + 1

Abucket of paint has spilled on a tile floor. the paint flow can be expressed with the function p(t) = 6(t), where t represents time in minutes and p represents how far the paint is spreading. the flowing paint is creating a circular pattern on the tile. the area of the pattern can be expressed as a(p) = 3.14(p)^2 part a: find the area of the circle of spilled paint as a function of time, or a[p(t)]. show your work. part b: how large is the area of spilled paint after 8 minutes? you may use 3.14 to approximate pi in this problem.
